In the spirit of radical welcome, we hope you will join us, and invite friends to our first Homecoming Weekend at SunCoast Cathedral MCC!
We felt like it was time to gather, after a couple of challenging years, and after a hurricane that shook us up! To stop and give thanks for a God Who has given us a vision and a mission, and a wonderful community to “come home to. . .”
We weekend begins, Friday night, October 6th (the actual 49th anniversary of the founding of MCC in Rev. Troy Perry’s living room!) with a REVIVAL service at 7 PM. Our guest preacher and spiritual leader will be Rev. Candy Holmes, and she is bringing with her a friend, minister and gospel keyboardist, Rev. Steve Andrews. We will rock the house that night, and who among us does not need revival and renewal? We know we do!
On Saturday, October 7, there will be a church BBQ beginning at 4:30 PM – bring your appetites! Then, just before 7, we will dedicate the new Pillars board and at 7PM enjoy a concert featuring long time SunCoast favorites, Ray Goins, Pastor Susie Brenner and the Beyond These Walls Praise Team, Mr. Bill from St. John the Apostle MCC; Rev. Pressley Sutherland; Rev. Renae Phillips and I (Rev. Nancy) have a duet prepared, our own Nikki LaChambre and Randy McGuire, and Rev. Candy and Steve will be returning! This will be a wonderful time of singing and praising God together!
Finally, on Sunday morning October 8th we will pull out all the stops, and celebrate with Rev. Dr. Tania Guzman, our guest preacher and SunCoast MCC alumni. We plan to include a video from our new partner church, God is Grace MCC, in Uganda, during the service. There will be great music, and time to view our newly decorated Pastors’ office – come and see the improvements being made here as well as to our lobby!
We are sprucing up, cleaning up from the hurricane, rehearsing and preparing for you October 6 through 8th! Don’t miss this opportunity to see what’s new at SunCoast MCC, and to re-acquaint yourself with what is still the same – the love of God and church community!
Come Home this season to love.
Grace and Peace,
Rev.’s Vickie and Nancy
